US Gov. Creates Software for ’Fake People’ Pushing Propoganda on Social Networks

The US government is offering private intelligence companies contracts to create software to manage “fake people” on social media sites and create the illusion of consensus on controversial issues.

The contract calls for the development of “Persona Management Software” which would help the user create and manage a variety of distinct fake profiles online. The job listing was discussed in recently leaked emails from the private security firm HBGary after an attack by internet activist last week.

According to the contract, the software would “protect the identity of government agencies” by employing a number of false signals to convince users that the poster is in fact a real person. A single user could manage unique background information and status updates for up to 10 fake people from a single computer.

Paralyzed Gymnast Walks Again After Being Frozen for 3 Days

Jorge Valdez was filming an audition tape for a Cirque De Soleil team when he misjudged a landing and which dislocated two of his vertebrae.

The 20 year old gymnast was left in a condition where he was unable to walk and only move his hands slightly. After being airlifted to a Miami hospital the doctors on hand determined he would be a prime candidate for a new cooling procedure administered to people with spinal injuries.

ABC provides a detailed description of the surgery - "after surgeons removed the disc that was pressing on the spine and fixed the dislocations, a catheter cooled by chilled saline was inserted into Jorge's groin. The chilled catheter cooled down his blood as it passed through it, his internal body temperature down to about 92 degrees Fahrenheit. He was kept in a medically-induced coma and in that hypothermic state for 48 hours post-operation."

Jorge went into surgery Thursday, woke up Saturday and was walking on Wednesday, Doctors warn people to not think that any sort of injury can be fixed via this cooling method. What saved Jorge was the speed in which they transported him and got him in right of the front people. Sounds like we need EMT vehicles capable of teleportation.

Live ammunition fired at Libyan people as Gaddafi orders "shoot to kill"

#

The thing is... they dont have to try this on American soil. They already have their tyranny going on there as the world knows by now, only they used more cunning ways... soldiers in suits... banksters... corporatism... legal drugs ..mass control through apathy and hypnotism daily produced by their media dogs.

Sadly american people have lost their country decades ago... and i would love to see the sleeping giant emerge from its coma.

This video is offensive, but it isnt inappropriate, and ought to be broadcast on national TV, everyone needs to see what soldiers are being trained to do with their big expensive toys, their shooting machines. Gunning down unarmed civilians is murder and I find that very offensive.

#

This is why civilians need guns, so they can protect themselves against their government.

Waimea River

The lake at Waimea Bay fills up annually and floods the roads upstream due to the hard Winter weather's rains. A river eventually emerges and carries all this dirty water to the ocean. It's a natural process. The water from the river gets carried away overnight by the currents; no ocean fish get harmed. There are also no fresh water fish harmed because they stay in their natural habitats; all this water is from rains, not an occupied river or lake.

Spy's are real

Sophistication behind spy's poisoning

The poisoning of the former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko would have required considerable scientific know-how, according to experts.

Mr Litvinenko's death on 23 November was linked to a "major dose" of radioactive polonium-210 found in his body.

Traces of radiation have since been found at five locations around London, including a sushi restaurant and hotel visited by the Russian.

But the radioactive substance implicated is as difficult to obtain as it can be to detect.

Polonium-210 occurs naturally in the environment and in people at low concentrations. But acquiring enough of it to kill would require individuals with expertise and connections.

Experts estimate that less than a microgram (one millionth of a gram) of the radioactive substance could have been responsible for Mr Litvinenko's death.

Murdered British spy 'may have been killed by jealous lover'

Gareth Williams, 31, had been working for MI6 on a one-year posting but was due to return to his regular job at the GCHQ listening station in Cheltenham at the start of next month.

Detectives believe Mr Williams, whose body lay undiscovered for up to two weeks in the bathroom of his top floor flat, might have had a violent row with a lover over his decision to return to Gloucestershire.

However, police have not ruled out the possibility that the murder could be linked to his secret intelligence work.

Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, was given updates on the investigation as part of a scheduled intelligence briefing yesterday.

Officers were yesterday examining Mr Williams’s mobile phone, which was found with several sim cards neatly laid out beside it, to find out his last contacts and when they were made. They were also studying CCTV images from cameras near the Georgian townhouse where Mr Williams had lived alone for the past year.

Nazi 3D films from 1936 discovered

James Cameron and his team of minions may have produced the high watermark for 3D technology in the 21st century, but it seems the Nazis got there first. The Australian film-maker Philippe Mora says he has discovered two 30-minute 3D films shot by propagandists for the Third Reich in 1936, a full 16 years before the format first became briefly popular in the US.

The first of the films, titled So Real You Can Touch It, features shots of sizzling stereoscopic bratwursts on a barbecue while the second, named Six Girls Roll Into Weekend, features actors Mora believes were probably stars from Germany's top wartime studio, Universum Film.

"The quality of the films is fantastic," Mora told Variety.com. "The Nazis were obsessed with recording everything and every single image was controlled – it was all part of how they gained control of the country and its people."

CBS News Correspondent Suffers Savage Assault In Egypt

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's resignation sent a mob of over 200 people rushing toward CBS correspondent Lara Logan and her crew.

Tahir Square was the center of attention for the announcement of Mubarak's resignation, where Logan and her crew were covering a story for 60 MINUTES. Amidst the drove of the mob, Logan was separated from her security and crew members where she found herself victim to a brutal sexual assault and beating. She was saved by an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers and a group of women nearby who helped her reconnect with her CBS team.

Lara was on the first flight to the United States the next morning where she was admitted to a hospital and is now recovering.

Do you know where your face is? It could be anywhere...

When Peter logged onto Facebook, he instantly saw a picture of his wife. Fine. Her photo was on a pop-up add for a dating site. Not fine. Turns out one of Facebook's advertisers had borrowed the photo from Peter's wife's profile without asking. It's just another casualty of the no-privacy zone we call the internet.

This week, another 250,000 Facebook users had their profile pictures repurposed on dating site. PCMag.com reports:

"The site, Lovely-Faces.com, launched this week with data scraped from public Facebook profiles, including names, locations, and photos. The service used facial recognition technology to sort the Facebook photos into categories like easy going, smug, or sly."

Diet soda tied to stroke risk, but reasons unclear (Aspartame)

LOS ANGELES – It's far from definitive proof, but new research raises concern about diet soda, finding higher risks for stroke and heart attack among people who drink it everyday versus those who drink no soda at all.

The beverage findings should be "a wakeup call to pay attention to diet sodas," said Dr. Steven Greenberg. He is a Harvard Medical School neurologist and vice chairman of the International Stroke Conference in California, where the research was presented on Wednesday.

A simple solution, health experts say, is to drink water instead.

Doctors have no chemical or biological explanation for why diet soda may be risky. It could be that people who drink lots of it also fail to exercise, weigh more, drink more alcohol or have other risk factors like high blood pressure and smoking. However, the researchers took these and many other factors into account and didn't see a change in the trend.

"It's reasonable to have doubts, because we don't have a clear mechanism. This needs to be viewed as a preliminary study," said lead researcher Hannah Gardener of the University of Miami.

But for those trying to cut calories, "diet soft drinks may not be an optimal substitute for sugar-sweetened beverages," she said.

The numbers come from the Northern Manhattan study, which enrolled about 2,500 adults over 40 in the New York area from 1993 to 2001 through random phone calls. Half are Hispanic and one-fourth are black, making it one of the few studies to look at these risks in minorities, who have higher rates of stroke.

Participants filled out a standard survey about their diets at the start of the study, and their health was tracked for nearly 10 years. In that time there were 559 strokes or heart attacks, 338 of them fatal.

Daily diet soda drinkers (there were 116 in the study) had a 48 percent higher risk of stroke or heart attack than people who drank no soda of any kind (901 people, or 35 percent of total participants). That's after taking into account rates of smoking, diabetes, waistline size and other differences among the groups.

AI is now watching television (and you)

A new Artificial intelligence (machine learning) technology by Bluefin Labs has been produced to do market research. It's function: to watch television programs, and listen to what people are saying about them on social media websites at the same time. By instantly analyzing the chitter chatter of thousands of online voices it can understand what programs work and why.

This technology is being sold to "top tier brands and advertisers" so that they may better understand

your online babbling, and make cents of it. It may seem cute, innocent, and fun to most people, but the fact is that constant television commentary on facebook is a serious commodity. To actually understand those seemingly endless comments about Glee, football, and humorous commercials is to understand the hive mind itself. Harnessing the power of this buzz is serious business. Taking a cue from television audiences, advertisers now demand instant gratification.

Bluefin was created by two professors. Basing the business on "15 years of MIT research at the intersection of cognitive psychology and Artificial Intelligence" they started Bluefin in 2008. A grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) got them started.

Next time you say something just think about who, or more appropriately, what, may be listening.

I do hope that Bluefin uses ethical phishing practices, and that no dolphins get caught up in their nets.
